Start with the free tier and upgrade as your practice grows. Every plan includes Core, Admin and Portal. No per-surface charges.
* AI usage includes clinical notes, booking assistance and other AI features. Each practice gets a daily usage allowance, which resets at 00:00 UK time. can be switched on to cover any usage above the daily allowance, billed pay-as-you-go once you've added a payment method (Starter itself needs no card, and AI simply pauses at the daily allowance until you add one).
** No fixed limit, but storage is monitored for fair use. Practices with unusually high usage may be asked to move to a storage add-on.
† SMS is billed by segment, not by message: a standard text of up to 160 characters is one segment (153 characters per part of a longer message). Emojis and some accented characters use a smaller character set, reducing this to 70 characters for a single segment (67 characters per part).
Every plan includes all three apps. No setup fees. Cancel monthly billing any time; annual pricing is a 12-month commitment.
Each practice gets a daily usage allowance for AI features, covering AI-assisted clinical notes, treatment summaries and booking assistance. The allowance resets at 00:00 UK time every day; it doesn't carry over or build up between days.
A clinical note uses a small share of the daily allowance. A treatment summary typically uses more than a clinical note. Booking assistance uses a small share.
If your practice reaches its daily allowance, AI features pause until the next daily reset. Everything else in Lumina, including booking, charting, payments and patient records, keeps working as normal. Need more AI capacity? Switch on Extra Usage to cover anything above the daily allowance, billed pay-as-you-go. Extra Usage needs a payment method on file; Starter itself doesn't.
SMS is billed by segment, not by message. A segment is a fixed block of characters; a longer message just uses more than one.
A single text message of up to 160 characters is one segment. Longer messages are split into segments of 153 characters each.
Emojis, and some accented or special characters, switch the message to a different character set with a smaller limit: 70 characters for a single segment, or 67 characters per segment for a longer message.
Growing and Enterprise practices get 500 SMS segments per practice included every month. Beyond that, extra segments are charged at 6p each, only once you've switched on additional usage.
An active patient is any patient who:
We measure activity, not how records are filed. Archiving or deleting a record does not remove a patient from the count while any of the above apply. A patient stops counting once none of them do, for example 18 months after their last visit with nothing booked, owing or planned.
A New Patient is a patient record created in your organisation for the first time during the current calendar month (UK time). It's counted once, however the record was created: by your team, online booking, the patient portal, or the API.
When it resets: at 00:00 UK time on the first day of each calendar month. This is a calendar-month count, not a rolling 30-day count.
A clinician is a staff account with a clinical role that can be scheduled to deliver treatment: for example a dentist, hygienist or therapist.
A team user is any other staff account, such as reception or practice management. Patient Portal accounts held by your patients don't count as either.
Storage covers the documents, images and files you upload or that Lumina generates for your patients, such as scanned forms, letters, and X-ray images. It's measured at least once a day.
Your clinical records held in the database, audit logs, or Lumina's own backups.
Large CBCT scan files are not supported on the Starter plan.
