FeaturesLumina Scribe Core

Lumina Scribe drafts the note and the chart.

Talk through the appointment and Lumina Scribe writes the transcript, drafts a structured note, and puts your findings on the chart as drafts for you to approve.

Lumina Scribe drafts on the chart, with dashed rings and numbered pins on each tooth, and a card on tooth 16 for an MOD composite showing the words the dentist said, with Approve, Deny and Tweak.

01Transcription

Words appear as you speak.

Lumina Scribe writes the transcript as you talk, fixes misheard dental words and underlines each one, and one click puts back exactly what it heard.

  • 1.1
    One click to start
Start Scribe sits in the patient band and reminds you to tell the patient you are recording.
  • 1.2
    Name teeth your way
"Upper right six", "UR6" or "18 missing", and groups such as "both lower sixes".
  • 1.3
    Audio never stored
Only the transcript is kept, in the note you save.

02The note

A structured note, drafted for you to check.

Save to notes files the whole transcript with a structured draft above it, opening on a Please check list of up to five doubts, most important first.

A drafted Scribe capture note in the Notes area, with a Please check list of three doubts and the Reason for attendance and Medical history sections, beside the Lumina Scribe panel showing the transcript with corrected words underlined and 23 things to chart.
  • 2.1
    Doubts flagged, not guessed
The draft writes "tooth not stated" or "value unclear", and "one, sorry, three" is written as three.
  • 2.2
    Linked to the visit
The note files against the visit shown at the top of the record, and leaves out another patient's words if the recording ran on.
  • 2.3
    You sign it
Edit with headings, bold and follow-up actions, then sign, and any later amendment keeps the original.

03Auto charting

Findings land on the chart, tooth by tooth.

Click Put them on the chart and each finding lands on its tooth as a draft with the words you said, to approve, deny or tweak, and nothing is on the record until you save.

  • 3.1
    Asks instead of guessing
When it is not sure which tooth, the card asks, and you answer by tapping the tooth.
  • 3.2
    Existing work in one step
Check old fillings and missing teeth together, then approve them all at once.
  • 3.3
    Only what you decided
It charts this patient's teeth, and only treatment you carry out or find, never treatment you only discussed or priced.

04Inside the exam

Fills the exam as you talk.

Inside an exam, Lumina Scribe fills the answers and BPE scores you described, keeps a starred score such as 3*, and highlights each field it changed for you to check.

05Dictation

Dictate notes and perio readings.

Click Dictate in any note and your words go in at the cursor, or call out pocket depths, bleeding and more while you probe, and Lumina fills the perio chart and reads each reading back.

The Periodontal chart while dictating, with Stop dictating, Listening, Heard 3 2 3, and the read-back line UR2 buccal: distal 3, mid 2, mesial 3 with Undo and Read back aloud.
Say "3 2 3" along the UK probing path, or "UR6 buccal, three two four"
"Bleeding", "plaque", "furcation 2" and "mobility 1" mark the tooth you just charted
Read-back such as "UR6 buccal: distal 3, mid 2, mesial 4", with the microphone muted while it speaks
Say "undo", "skip", "back" or "four, no, five" to correct as you go
Missing teeth skipped, and "16" on its own never charted as 1 and 6
When it is not sure, it asks in amber and charts nothing
06You stay in charge

The clinician approves every record.

Lumina Scribe drafts, and the clinician checks, approves, saves and signs.

  • 6.1
    Save when you are ready
Save part way through, and anything you have not checked stays a draft.
  • 6.2
Pick up where you left off
The patient band shows how many drafts are left, even after you close the browser.
  • 6.3
    Switched on by your organisation
